How to Keep Your Nipples From Bleeding While Running a Marathon

Those of you that have run long enough know that chaffing is a runner's worst enemy. For male runners the rubbing of ones shirt over time can cause your nipples to bleed, very painful! Here's a foolproof way to stop it, because body glide doesn't work, Vaseline doesn't work, and band aids do not work. This method is guaranteed to stay adhered for all 26.2 miles.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut two small .25 inch x .25 inch squares of duct tape. Use standard gray duct tape, there is no need to buy the extra adhering version. Do not try to substitute athletic tape or any other type of tape, as it will fall off with your sweat.

  2. Step 2

Attach duct tape to each nipple, avoiding any chest hair. You only need to cover the nipple, so don't go over board.

  3. Step 3

Put on shirt and you are ready to run. The duct tape is the ONLY thing I've found that will not come off during a run.

Tips & Warnings
  • I use this method for any run 6 miles or longer, on shorter runs it doesn't seem to be a problem.
  • Put on duct tape before any sunscreen or lotion to keep it from falling off.
  • Only use a small amount of duct tape so it doesn't stick to your chest hair.
  • Don't forget to remove it afterward!
