How to Make Peekaboo Dolls
A peekaboo doll is a homemade craft that your toddler will enjoy for years to come. This toy is a small plush doll that is nestled on the top of a pocket that you place over your hand. When you turn the fabric wrong side out, there is yet another plush doll that stands up that will make your child squeal with surprise. These dolls are perfect if you are on a budget because all you need are a few supplies and a sewing machine.

1
Visit your local thrift store for supplies. Look for a ski hat that is stretchy and fits tight on the head. This type of hat is the kind that stretches to accommodate any head size.
-
2
Select two small, stuffed dolls that your child will enjoy. Try to choose the ones that are the most colorful. Avoid choosing any stuffed dolls that are larger than your finger.

3
Use a needle and thread to attach one of the stuffed dolls to the top of your stretchy hat. Attach the bottom of the doll's legs to the seam that runs at the center top of your hat. At this point, your doll should appear as if it is standing on top of your hat.

4
Turn your hat inside out so that the wrong side is facing you. Attach a small swatch of material that covers the complete interior of the hat. Trim the excess material until you are able to fold the fabric underneath the brim of the hat. Sew this seam around the entire hat so that it looks neat.

5
Attach the bottom of the legs of the second stuffed doll to the center of the hat just as you did before.
-
6
Place your hand in your new hat and wiggle your fingers around. You should notice the dolls will dance with the movement of your hands. Remove your hand, flip the hat inside out, and place your hand back in. Your children will love the second doll that pops up because it's unexpected.
