Step 1
Refrain from underestimating your chances. Assuming that the "shadowy loner" in the corner won't like you because of your appearance or social standing is counterproductive. Understanding that the Goth subculture values self-expression and honesty can give you the confidence to pursue interesting guys.
-
Step 2
Show interest in Gothic attitudes, hobbies and social opinions. Although you don't have to become an expert on all things Goth, learning about key topics can earn you points. Listening to popular Goth bands such as the Cure and Evanescence, gives you appropriate conversation starters. Discussing your involvement with Goth social sites such as Gothers, gives you opportunities to make deep connections.
-
Step 3
Capture attention with your clothing. Altering your usual fashion style to match his likes can demonstrate your genuine interest in him. This is especially true if you don't usually dress in a Gothic style. Wearing dark clothing, band t-shirts and expressive makeup can provide the edge you need. Avoid trying too hard, as this can make you seem flighty and easily-controlled.
-
Step 4
Visit Goth hangouts to find suitable guys. Attending clubs that play Goth music gives you access to a wide variety of Goth guys. Shop at Goth-inspired clothing stores such as Hot Topic to meet new Goth guys. Attending Goth music concerts and poetry readings are both effective ways of finding a Goth guy to date. Consider hosting your own Goth-inspired party to increase your social standing within the subculture.
-
Step 5
Use online sources to find a Goth guy to date. Making profiles at Goth dating sites such as Gothic Match can increase your chances of making a desirable love connection. Participating in Goth forums such as Dark Starlings can increase your knowledge of the Goth lifestyle and make you more confident in approaching that special Goth guy.

on 8/12/2009 Goths are generally very romantic and open-minded people, starting a relationship with one is never difficult.
About the music, I'd like to point out that while Evanescense may have haunting lyrics and lovely vocals - they are not goth.
Next, Hot Topic is not a Goth store. You won't catch a lot of true goths shopping there and if they do go in it's usually just to laugh at the mallgoths.
You don't need to start gothin' up your wardrobe to get a goth guy. He might interpret you as a "poser" if you start dressing just to impress him. He'll respect you more if you stick to what you like and normally wear.
