In basketball, a dunk is one of the simplest but hardest ways to score a basket. It seems like all you have to do is slam the ball in the hoop, but the hard part is actually getting up to the basket. Dunking a basketball is a fun and rewarding activity. My favorite basketball dunkers are Michael Jordan and Nate Robinson. If you want to dunk a basketball like the pros then read on!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a height adjustable basketball hoop
  • a basketball
  1. Step 1
    a basketball
    a basketball

Before you actually begin your dunk, set yourself up. You should be about 15 feet away from the basket so that you have enough space to dribble and get a running start. Hold the ball in both of your hands.

  2. Step 2
    dribbling
    dribbling

Dribble towards the basket. Stop dribbling about 5 to 10 feet away from the basket, take two steps, and jump as high as you can. It is easier to jump off of two feet.

  3. Step 3
    a two-handed dunk
    a two-handed dunk

When you are at your highest point off of the ground, bring the ball up, over your head, to the basket. Palming the ball with one hand is preferred but two hands is also fine. Slam the ball through the hoop as hard as you can but make sure the ball goes in. Happy dunking!

Tips & Warnings
  • Stretch a lot.
  • Be cautious not to jump too far into the pole.

on 8/8/2009 I have always enjoyed playing basket ball, or scap ball. Can't say that I have touched the rim with a dunk, but I have gotten close:)
