Things You'll Need:
- laundry
- sorting baskets
- net bag
-
Step 1
Find the clothes in the laundry hamper that are dark colored. Such as navy blue or black. Sort these in a laundry basket. Then sort again the very dirty clothes like dark work clothes, and dark socks, put these in a different basket. These should be washed together in the washing machine.
-
Step 2
Sort out Dark clothes that are dressy for school, church or work these can be left in the basket. These nice clothes because they are usually not as dirty should be washed in another load in the washer.
-
Step 3
Sort White clothes such as blouses,t-shirts,shorts or pants out of the hamper and put in a desperate basket together and laundered together in the washing machine. Sometimes bleach may need to be added to get any yellowing and dirt out.
-
Step 4
Then pull out any delicate lingerie that is in the hamper. This should be put in a basket. Then sort the light from the dark lingre and put in a separate basket. You don't want to mix them in the washing machine because the dye in them could bleed. Stockings should be sorted out and washed by hand or a net bag in the washing machine.
-
Step 5
Any white socks should be washed ALONE to get out dirt and sweat odor. Bleaching white socks is usually a good thing to do to get out germs and dirt.
-
Step 6
Bright red clothing should not be mixed with any whites or light colored clothes. Red fabric bleeds easily. Your white underwear, white lingerie or white t-shirts could turn pink.
-
Step 7
Light yellows ,light blue and light green clothing sort out from the other clothes and they can be laundered together. Sort out towels, sheets and pillow-cases into baskets together by their colors just like clothing.

on 8/12/2009 Great guide. I never thought sorting most things was important (unless they bled) but my ex used to work as a cook, and if you washed THOSE clothes with other clothes, they all smell like grease EWW!
