Though the ringworm skin disease is not deadly, it can be quite irritating and very contagious. Ringworm is a fungus infection (not an actual worm) and is usually quite common among humans. Ringworm starts off as a rash, and then it becomes circular over time. If you do discover that you have the ringworm infection, there are many ringworm treatments out there. Look in the Related Articles section to find out how to be treated. However, you can prevent the ringworm skin disease and not have to go through the trouble of finding a treatment for ringworm.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash your hands after handling animals, soil, and plants to prevent the ringworm skin disease. You don't want any lingering germs on your fingers to be smeared onto your skin.

  2. Step 2

To prevent the ringworm skin disease, don't touch lesions on the faces of other people. You don't know where the person could have picked up such wounds and, for all you know, he/she could have the ringworm infection or some other type of disease.

  3. Step 3

Have good hygiene, including taking showers daily and wearing deodorant. If you're clean, you'll less likely pick up the ringworm skin disease. Your body will also be quite happy that you're taking care of it.

  4. Step 4

Never share clothing, sports equipment, towels, or sheets if you want to prevent the ringworm skin disease. You don't know what types of infections other people could have picked up. You most certainly don't want those infections to spread on you, especially a ringworm infection. If you absolutely have to share something with someone else, make sure you know the person well.

  5. Step 5

To prevent the ringworm skin disease, never walk barefoot, especially in public. Your feet can pick up loads of germs if you walk barefoot. Wear shoes or at least socks when you're roaming around.

  6. Step 6

Change your socks and underwear at least once a day to prevent the ringworm skin disease. You don't want to be wearing dirty undergarments, for this can breed ringworm infections.

  7. Step 7

Wipe your skin with a towel after you shower or take a bath. The ringworm skin disease likes damp places, so keep your skin dry.

  8. Step 8

Take a shower after playing a sport or taking part in skin-to-skin contact. Having a shower can help rinse away any sweat or germs from your body to prevent any infections like the ringworm skin disease to spread.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you take care of your body, you're almost guaranteed not to acquire any infections.
