Recycle to Save Money
Recycle to Save Money

A penny saved is a penny earned.

This phrase was engraved in my memory at a very young age. Recycling is an effective way to save money, more money than you even realize...until you start to recycle.

Hopefully these tips will get you started on your way to saving money by recycling.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A desire to save money
  1. Step 1

Recycle plastic bags from the grocery store by using them as trash can liners in you bathroom. The bags are the perfect size for small trash cans.

  2. Step 2

Empty butter, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc. containers can be washed and recycled into food storage containers. These containers can store food in the fridge or freezer and then the food can be brought to the microwave for heating, time and time again.

  3. Step 3

The used baking soda from your fridge can also be recycled. Pour the baking soda down a clogged drain and then add vinegar. The reaction from the baking soda and vinegar will help to remove the clog.

  4. Step 4

Save all leftover foods. Corn, potatoes, carrots, pot roast, chicken, the possibilities are endless. These left overs, no matter how minuscule, can be frozen to recycle later. These left overs can be used in a hearty soup, at a later date.

  5. Step 5

Don't throw out that stale bread, recycle stale bread into a tasty bread pudding, bread crumbs for cooking, or make home made croutons for your next salad.

  6. Step 6

The vinegar left in the bottom of a pickle jar can even be recycled to save money. Pour this pickle juice down your sink to freshen your pipes, or you can strain the juice, pour it into a spray bottle and spray the pickle juice onto pet accidents on your carpet to neutralize odors.
