How to Get Good Grades

College will be the best time of your life. You will be granted freedom from the confines of home and finally able to pursue your dreams. Many college students get caught up in the excitement of freedom and forget about their dreams. There are some things you can do to ensure that you can have fun and get good grades.

Instructions

    • 1

Attend class as often as possible. You are generally not required to attend class, and sometimes you won't have to. If you can learn the material on your own then why bother attending class? But some classes do require it and if you start skipping out, it will be very hard to get good grades.

Try to study during your breaks at school. This will allow you to have more time in the evenings for fun things. You can be more productive during your school time and still learn as much as the kids who study all night long.

    • 3

If you can, and want to, commute. This will reduce some of the freedom you have, but this way you will be better able to concentrate on your studies without the distraction of dorm life.

    • 4

Always attend class before a scheduled exam. Many times the professor will go over almost exactly what will be on the test. This is almost a shortcut to get good grades.

    • 5

Work with other students in your classes. They may have a better way for you to learn something than the professor does. Different approaches to teaching lead to different results.

    • 6

Figure out which way you learn best. If you are an auditory learner then you shouldn't take too many notes and focus on what the teacher is saying. Visual learners should take notes so that they can visualize what's on the paper. Kinetic learners should try to get involved, they tend to learn well in labs. Knowing how you learn can help you get good grades by helping you to study better.

    • 7

Don't give up. Study until you know the material. It will take some people longer to learn than others and that is nothing to feel ashamed of.

Tips & Warnings

  • In order to get good grades you will have to put forth a varying amount of effort dependent on your learning ability. It may be harder for you than others.
