Punch a Hole in a Belt Expertly Using a Corkscrew

Punching a new hole in a belt is easy when you have the right tools. When you don't have the right tools, improvise! A common corkscrew works great. Here's how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Belt
  • Corkscrew ("winged" style works best)
  • Pen
  • Work surface
  1. Step 1

On the reverse side of the belt, mark with a pen the spot where you need a new hole. For professional-looking results, keep the spacing consistent with the current belt holes.

  2. Step 2

Lay the belt on the work surface with the reverse side facing up. You should be able to see the pen mark you made for the new hole.

  3. Step 3

Place the corkscrew on top of the belt and slowly lower the sharp tip directly over the pen mark.

  4. Step 4

Slowly twist the corkscrew until the tip penetrates the belt and protrudes through to the other side. Presto! A beautiful new belt hole.

  5. Step 5

If you need to add additional holes, remember to try to keep the spacing consistent with the other holes.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use this technique to punch holes in straps of handbags or sandals, too.
