Baked potatoes are both nutritious and yummy but the trouble is they take forever. By using the microwave oven a "baked" potato can be had in minutes!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • potato
  • microwave oven
  • fork
  • favorite toppings
  • plastic microwave safe container lid (optional)
  1. Step 1

Choose your favorite medium potato. I like New (red) potatoes because they are sweet but any will do just fine.

  2. Step 2

Wash your potato especially if you are planning to eat the vitamin rich skin.

  3. Step 3

Stick your potato with a fork to prevent an exploding spud. Just one good stab with a fork will do it.

  4. Step 4

Place your potato in the microwave. ( I prefer to place it in a plastic container lid to catch juices but it is optional)

  5. Step 5

Set your microwave for five minutes and press start.

  6. Step 6

Poke your potato with a fork after cook time is complete. If the fork slides in effortlessly it is done. If not, add a minute or two, then check it again.

  7. Step 7

Remove your potato with a hot mitt to prevent burning.
Enjoy your potato with your favorite topping!

Tips & Warnings
  • Potatoes are very low in saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. They are good sources of vitamin C, potassium, and manganese.
