Things You'll Need:
- ingenuity
- some of your time
- a little cash
-
Step 1
With all the stress of not knowing how the economy is going to affect business. It is getting very difficult to keep employees happy and morale up at the office or in the factory. Most employees carry that bad attitude or chip on their shoulder, that they are not appreciated enough for whatever reason. Here's some ideas that may help.
-
Step 2
You can't just give money to employees these days, but you can give incentives. Gain share is one way of giving back to the employees nominally. But they have to work for it. Use a percentage of output, or rates for non conforming goods. Make obtainable thresholds and hold the employees accountable to reaching them. Once they see the fruits of their labor it's pretty easy to maintain.
-
Step 3
Another way of sort of giving back to employees is thru Safety programs. I like to feed my employees.. if they reach safety milestones of sorts, we reward with a dinner on site. Whether it be a cook out or catered in everyone sees the extra effort by management and appreciates it.
-
Step 4
Other incentives would include Company sponsored picnics, gift cards for years of service. Jackets with company name and logo(advertisement)
or simply polling your employees to see what would make them happier.
