So, your watch battery is rechargeable... want happens when it gets old and stops holding it's charge? Here's how you can go about changing the battery and inserting a new rechargeable battery into your watch.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • screw driver
  • parts tray
  • camera or notepad and pencil
  • plastic tweezers
  • new battery
  • metal tweezers
  • silicone lubricant
  1. Step 1

Using a screwdriver push the screw out of the plastic link covering the case back.

The shaft is permanently attached to the watch lug. The rubber holder-link works with 4 case back screws to hold the case back on to the watch.

  2. Step 2

Using a screwdriver and turning counter clockwise remove the four screws holding the case back onto the watch and put into the parts tray . Very carefully remove the case back taking special care not to disturb the springs that are in the watch. At this point either take a picture of the watch or draw a picture of the movement and where the springs are located. One is a different size so make sure to make a note of this also. This is VERY IMPORTANT as without these springs all the functions will not work.

  3. Step 3

Gently remove these springs with your tweezers and put in your parts tray.

  4. Step 4

Remove the black cover and then the white cover until you get to the battery compartment.

  5. Step 5

On the one side of the battery you will see a latch (picture) you must push down and pull out slightly to the left to release this latch.

  6. Step 6

Using a PLASTIC tweezers remove the old battery.

  7. Step 7

Find the replacement battery number off of the watch.

  8. Step 8

Using a plastic tweezers reinsert the new battery into the watch.

  9. Step 9

Reattach the latch by pulling down and pushing under the tab to hold it into place.

  10. Step 10

    Insert white plastic cover.

  11. Step 11

    Insert the black plastic cover.

  12. Step 12

Insert the springs back into the proper positions.

  13. Step 13

Using a METAL tweezers touch both the (-) negative and the (AC) terminals with the points of the tweezers at the same time.

  14. Step 14

Turn the watch over to see that all the displays are working properly.

  15. Step 15

Apply silicone lubricant to the gasket and put the back onto the watch.

  16. Step 16

Using tweezers place screws into the watch case back.

  17. Step 17

Turning the screw clockwise lightly tighten all four screws.

  18. Step 18

Finish tightening the screw going diagonally across the back.

  19. Step 19

Be careful not to over tighten the screws.

  20. Step 20

Follow the recharging and setting instructions that came with the watch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take notes of where all the small pieces belong as it is very important that they end up in the same places that they started in.
  • Don't over tighten screws!
  • This is an involved process, if you don't feel comfortable with following these steps, take your watch to a professional.

on 8/24/2009 WARNING: Changing a watch battery requires special tools and knowledge. You can very easily turn your expensive watch into a piece of junk that will need to be repaired by a professional at a much higher cost than the $10.00 it costs to have a battery professionally replaced. Trust me I know. :(
