You can save money by making your own baby food! Making your own baby food is as simple as can be, and by making a large amount and freezing the leftovers, you save even more work for yourself. Sweet peas are a great first vegetable for your baby. Follow the easy recipe below to make a pea puree your baby is sure to enjoy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bag of frozen peas
  • bowl of ice cold water
  • blender or electric food mill for making baby purees
  1. Step 1

Cook frozen sweet peas according to package directions.

  2. Step 2

When peas have finished cooking, drain them, reserving the cooking water, and dump them into a bowl of ice cold water. (Dumping them in cold water will ensure a smoother puree, which is especially helpful for younger babies who are eating peas for the first time.)

  3. Step 3

Drain the cold water from the peas. Place in blender and pour a small amount of reserved cooking water in blender. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed.

  4. Step 4

The peas will keep in fridge for 2-3 days, or in freezer for 3 months. It's just that easy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Freeze peas in ice cube trays--pop out a cube and thaw for an individual serving for your baby!
  • Mix peas with other pureed veggies your baby enjoys (carrots, squash, and sweet potato are good foods to mix with peas)
