Things You'll Need:
- Lacrosse stick
- White athletic tape

Step 1
Whether or not to tape your Lacrosse stick is a personal preference, but for beginning players, it can be an invaluable tool to reinforce where they should place their hands for cradling, passing and shooting. The tape can act as their "go to spot" on the stick. If you decide to use tape, here are the steps to follow.

Step 2
Decide what type of tape you want to use. White athletic tape is the best. Masking tape, duct tape and electrical tape, which are sometimes used, are slippery and will interfere with what you are trying to achieve. Cut the white athletic tape in several half inch strips 6 inches long and set aside. Now you are ready to tape the stick.

Step 3
Major League Lacrosse Player Matt Danowski recommends that you place tape on the areas you are going to hold for cradling, passing and shooting. Once you have established where those spots are for you, wrap a few strips of tape around the stick in that area to mark the spot. For example you may have a few strips on the top of the shaft where you are cradling the stick, and you might have two sections on the bottom of the stick where you are holding the stick with both hands for shooting. These spots will serve as quick reminders for you during practice or during the game.
