If you are not one to use a lot of medicinal drugs to cure yourself, this article may be just what you are looking for to help you heal up quickly from getting your wisdom teeth pulled.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BFC
  • Cayenne capsules
  • Echinacea golden seal combo
  • Olive leaf
  • Garlic
  • Acidophilus
  • Slippery elm
  • White willow
  • Blackstrap molasses milk
  1. Step 1

First, every individual is different. I am just making suggestions of things I found to be helpful. Please keep this in mind as you read the ideas presented here. As I am writing this, my eldest son is coming to the end of his recovery from having 4 wisdom teeth extracted along with one large cavity filled. He spent a solid 5 hours in the dentist's chair. Ugh! No fun!

  2. Step 2

If you aren’t used to taking a lot of medications, you can probably get by with a lower grade of pain killer than prescribed by the dentist. White willow may not mask the pain for you on the first day after the numbness has worn off, but it can be very helpful in the later days. If you choose to use the pain killer prescribed, as the pain lessens, you can switch from ****, Tylenol with codeine, etc. to something over-the-counter like alleve, aspirin or regular Tylenol that has fewer side effects.

  3. Step 3

Make sure to know what you are getting in to when taking any drug. You can look at many sites on the internet to read about possible side effects and what signs to watch for that indicate trouble.

  4. Step 4

In the "Things You'll Need" section above, you will notice the letters BFC on the list. This is a product put out by Nature's Way Herbs. It is a salve. The acronym stands for Bone, Flesh & Cartilage. It is the best salve in the world for healing bruises, wounds, and swelling. It can be applied directly to the cheeks to help reduce swelling and pain.

  5. Step 5

Cayenne capsule are suggested to help control the flow of blood. Cayenne is a blood regulator and has the ability to keep bleeding to a minimum.

  6. Step 6

Echinacea, golden seal, garlic and olive leaf are all natural immune builders to protect against infections and stave off invading flu bugs. These can be taken 3 or 4 times a day. We used Kyolic garlic capsules and took 2 each time.

  7. Step 7

Acidophilus is a must when consuming antibiotics. Acidophilus allows your body to keep the good bacteria that our bodies need. Antibiotics destroy both good and bad. We used Nature's Way Primadophilus 3X a day.

  8. Step 8

You may find that your throat becomes very sore and swallowing difficult. Slippery Elm coats and soothes a sore throat. You can mix a teaspoon into a small amount of water and drink it, or you can add it to some applesauce.

  9. Step 9

Drizzle a tablespoon of Blackstrap Molasses into a cup of whole milk for an iron rich drink. When you experience blood loss, stocking up on iron is a helpful thing.

  10. Step 10

Get as much rest as you possibly can while recovering. Use pillows to prop you up, since that can be more comfortable than reclining completely. Don't try to exercise. This is your opportunity to allow yourself to "veg" out on the couch with a good book, video game or movie!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always do your own research to figure out what may work well for you!
  • Always contact your doctor/dentist in case of emergency.
