How to Use Angry IP

When using a server, it is important to be able to scan the system and make sure it is running at peek performance. Angry IP does just this. It is available as a free download through multiple sources online. Once launched, Angry IP will scan every IP to see if they are active, as well as the computer using the IP and the user who is accessing it.

  • Log on as the administrator and launch Angry IP (download the software through the link provided in Resources below). The program will scan your system and display all server ports used on the server.

  • Create a server port range that you want to scan. This can be done by selecting two ports, one at the bottom and one at the top of the ports used list.

  • Click "Start." Angry IP will scan every port in between the two selected ports. It will take a few moments for the program to determine if the IP addresses are active or not. Once finished, ports will be displayed in blue or red. Blue ports mean the IP is currently in use, while red means the IP is idle.

  • Select an active IP address (blue) and you will be shown the computer using the port as well as the current user.
