Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
- Several 2x4 pieces of wood
- Saw
- Nails
- Paint
-
Step 1
Measure the aquariums. There are many different-sized aquariums, and it is important to have a customized stand. You can make a stand for any type of aquariums, but for this aquarium stand, they all need to be the same size.
-
Step 2
Build one frame for each fish tank, using 2x4 pieces of wood. The frames should not be the exact size of the fish tanks, but should be made 1 inch smaller than the aquariums all the way around. This will allow the aquarium to sit on the frame, without falling through. When you are finished, you should have three frames that are the same size.
-
Step 3
Make four legs that attach to the bottom of one of the frames. They should be at least 6 inches off the ground. They can be higher, depending on your preference. The legs should be attached with nails in a square manner, directly to the four corners of the frame.
-
Step 4
Measure the height of the aquariums, (including the hoods). Then attach four legs to this frame that stick straight up into the air. They should be long enough to be at least 6 inches higher than the aquarium.
-
Step 5
Attach the second frame to the top of these legs.
-
Step 6
Repeat step four, and attach the third frame to the top of those legs.
-
Step 7
The top frame should also have legs on it, to brace the highest aquarium. You can make these any height that you wish.
-
Step 8
Sand, stain and paint the aquarium stand in any way you choose.
-
Step 9
Use wall hooks to securely attach the aquarium stand to the wall. You cannot put the aquariums on the stand and fill them until the stand is attached to the wall.
