When obstacles prevent you from unleashing a straight throw, a fade, which curves from left to right for a right-hander, works wonders in getting your disc to the pin.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flying Disc Games
  • Flying Discs
  1. Step 1

Grip the disc as you would to throw a backhand toss.

  2. Step 2

Keep your feet perpendicular to your target.

  3. Step 3

Bring your throwing arm across your body.

  4. Step 4

Tilt your wrist down so the disc rests at an angle of 15-30 degrees away from your hand.

  5. Step 5

Hold the disc close to your waist.

  6. Step 6

Raise your throwing shoulder several inches above your nonthrowing shoulder.

  7. Step 7

Throw the disc in a down-to-up motion. Your hand should finish the throw above your eye level.

  8. Step 8

Lean back a bit at your waist as you release the disc.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pay attention to how much you bend your wrist. If the disc is flopping onto its side and rolling soon after you release it, you are probably using too much of an angle.
  • Exaggerate the throwing motion. By exaggerating the motion, you'll slow down your arm speed and realize how the throw is different from your typical backhand toss.
