Step 1
Begin by clicking on the link in the "Resources" section below to go to a site known as grants.gov. This website is a site run by the United States Government that specializes in helping people find and apply for government grants.

The next step is to register on the grants.gov site as an individual by clicking on the "Get Registered" button on the left side of the website. Fill out all information with complete honesty. Make sure that this is the first thing you do on the site as it can take anywhere between 3-5 days for your registration to be completed.

Then move on to searching for suitable government grants. Click on the "Find Grant Opportunities" button on the left side of the page and then search either by keyword (such as "first time home buyer") or by the "housing" category. Click on a grant opportunity that looks like it fits your needs to get more information on the government grant.

Once you have chosen a grant, or grants, that you would like to apply for, click the "Application" button at the top of the grant description page to access a full application. Once again, fill out the application with complete honesty.

Once you complete the application, you will need to mail it back to the United States Government and wait to see if you are awarded the government grant or not. To track the status of your application, you can use the "Track My Application" function on the left side of the grants.gov page

Hopefully you will be awarded the government grant. If you do, make sure to use the money as it is designated by the government. If you attempt to fraud the government, you could face very harsh penalties and even end up with jailtime.
