      Make sure the gas is turned on to the fire place. There is usually 2 gas valves to the fire place, one at the fire place and one where the gas line comes off the main line in your house. Make sure both valves are open.

      Light the pilot light if your fire place has one. There usually is a button that can be pressed that will ignite it. Check your instructions on how to light the pilot light. Some fire places do not have a pilot light.

      Use the switch on the fire place or wall to ignite the fire place. The switch is usually located on the side or back of the fire place so you may have to look for it.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you smell gas before lighting the pilot light, turn off the gas valve(s) and call a professional to check the connections for leaks.
