    Things You'll Need

    • Disc cleaning material (optional)
    1. Verifying Network Connection

      • 1

Power down the Playstation 3 and the television it is connected to.

      • 2

Unplug all wires connected to the Playstation 3. This includes all audio/video, power, controllers and network related cables.

      • 3

Reset your Internet device (cable or DSL modem).

      • 4

Re-attach everything to your PS3. Make sure everything is attached firmly to the correct inputs.

      • 5

Go to "Network Settings" and verify your Internet settings. If you don't know your settings, try the automatic configuration. Run a test to see if your console connects. If it does, make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

      Disc Read Errors

      • 1

Remove the disc from the system.

      • 2

Use a cloth to clean in small circles around the disc (not in a big circle going around the disc). Use DVD or CD disc cleaner if available. If you use cleaner, use a different dry cloth to clean the disc no more than three minutes after application.

      • 3

Verify that there are no disc-destroying marks on the disc. Deep scratches and chips in the middle of the disc can render a disc inoperable.
