Deal With Money Worries

One of the most common causes of stress out there is money, whether we are dealing with a poor economy or not. Learn what you can do to take control of the situation and not let the stress get to you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out the direct cause or causes of your problems. Whether you are not making enough money to pay your bills, you spend too much money on things you don't need, or you are unemployed. Writing your problems down will help you to separate them and will make it easier to work towards solutions.

  2. Step 2

After you've written everything down, brainstorm of things that you can do to make each situation better. Its brainstorming, so don't worry if a few of your ideas seem a little out there. The more thoughts you have, the better.

  3. Step 3

Every little thing that you can do to improve your financial situation. In addition to writing down your problems, write down everything that you spend money on in a month. You'd be surprised how much money you can save by simply avoiding the vending machines at work or lowering the amount of features on your cell phone.

  4. Step 4

Talk about your problems with somebody. I don't mean complain to everyone you meet about how stressed out you are. Find someone you trust and you think might have some good advice for you and just let it out and see what they think about it. Maybe they can give you an idea or two that you wouldn't have thought of on your own.

  5. Step 5

When the anxiety starts to really get to you, go for a walk or run. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress because of the endorphins it releases. It can also give you more energy to get through the day.

  6. Step 6

Keep a positive attitude about things. Take every negative comment in your head and think about how you can turn it around to make it positive. Having an optimistic perspective on things can make life a lot more enjoyable.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to turn to medication, alcohol, or drugs to cope with the stress.
