One of the first things a child should know before they walk into kindergarten is how to spell their name. This can be a fun and easy task for you and your child. All you need is about 5 minutes out of your busy day.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 minutes out of your busy day
  1. Step 1

First you need to break down your child's name into three letter segments. If your child's name were GABRIELLA, you would break it down as follows: GAB-RIE-LLA. If your child's name does not divide evenly by three, just divide it so the segments are no more than three letters.

  2. Step 2

Pick a time of day when you and your child are together without many distractions. Good ideas are bath time or when your in the car together.

  3. Step 3

Start by having your child repeat each 3 letter segment back to you. Do it as many times as you feel your child is comfortable with. DO NOT force them to do it. Remember you want this to be fun. Some children will want to do it multiple times, while others may only want to do it once.

  4. Step 4

Repeat Step 3 everyday until your child can spell their name on their own. In most cases this will only take a few days.
