The program is primarily used by schools and students, but Encarta 2008 is also available for purchase by the public. Although the product has recently been discontinued, it is still possible to purchase and install the product.

Insert the Microsoft Encarta 2008 installation disk into your computer. Wait a moment for the installation wizard to load.

Agree to the license agreement after reading the displayed message. Continue until you reach the software serial key input. This key can be found on the inside of installation disk's case. Find the number and type it into the designated space and click "Next."

Follow the remaining steps (which include the installation location and desirable desktop icons) and the installation will begin. Click "Finish" when informed that the installation is complete.

Tips & Warnings
As of 2008, Microsoft discontinued the creation of Encarta. Encarta 2009 is the final version, but is still available for purchase.
