Tired of your pup or fat lazy cat just laying around the house all day? Here's a fun way to make your pet earn their keep!

Why not use your pet(s) as the topic for a blog? Seriously.

Although the idea may not be totally original you can put a twist on it to maximize the returns.

Pets and pet care are largely sought after on the web. Just do a Google search and see what I mean.

One good idea is to use the particular breed of your pet for your blog title.

For example if you have a Chocolate Labrador Retriever you might use a title such as "My Silly Brown Labrador" or "Chocolate Lab Advice".

Read on to learn how to make money with this idea.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pet or pets
  • A blooger.com account or a Today.com account or both
  • A free Paypal account
  • An Adsense account
  • Sign up for some pet supply affiliate programs
  1. Step 1

Go to Today.com and sign up for a FREE VIP account. Today.com is another free blogging source where you can blog about your pet (or other things) and collect commission on Adsense ads and affiliate products. They pay for traffic as well. Not much at first, but all those pennies add up. See resources.

Another free blogging site is Blogger.com. By creating an account here you have more control over your affiliate programs.

  2. Step 2

Take pictures of your pet doing it's normal everyday activities such as eating, sleeping, and so on.

Take pictures of your pet doing silly things or wearing silly hats or clothes. People like cute and silly photos.

  3. Step 3

Join different affiliate programs that specialize in pet care. To find affiliate programs for pet supplies do a Google search on "affiliate programs for pet supplies", "pet supplies affiliate programs", etc.

Search ClickBank.com for ebooks on animal care and dog or cat training. If you find something you like join Clickbank for free and promote the product.

Join affiliate sites like "Commission Junction" and "eBay Partner Network". Search for pet supplies to promote.

Special note: If you use Today.com as your blogging platform you'll have to use the affiliate programs they offer (no outside links), but there is a ton of stuff to choose from.

  4. Step 4

Write some informational blog postings about your pet such as how you house broke your dog or the best cat food to reduce hair balls. Make recommendations for pet products such as pet beds, toys, shampoo, collars...

Post some cute photos as well.

Just be sure you have some good quality articles written ahead of time so you can post periodically. Gently sprinkle in affiliate promotions.

  5. Step 5

Check out my example site "Big-Brown-Dog.Today.com". This site is fairly new, but it will hopefully give you some ideas.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have more than one pet create more than one blog. Today.com will only let you have one VIP account at the moment, but you can have more than one Blogger.com account.
  • Use your product recommendations wisely to reduce the risk of being penalized for spamming. In other words don't over do it!
