Step 1
Use people engines. There are search engines that are designed just to find people (see Resources.) These search engines will let you type in a name and then display a list of names with other identifiable information such as state, birth year and city. If there is a person that looks like a match, you can click on the name and get more information.
-
Step 2
Find out as much as you can about the person. Before you do any kind of search, it helps to know a person's full name, what state he lives in, where he works, really anything you can. When you do searches based on a person's name, you will likely get many responses. Being able to narrow your results down in any way will help.
-
Step 3
Contact friends and family of the person. They may be able to provide you with an email address or just more information that will help you locate an email address (see Resources.)
-
Step 4
Look through email directories. There are many email directories that specifically help you find someone's email address. Yahoo! has an email search engine that is very good.
-
Step 5
Search through social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace. You can search by names and either contact the people in the results or become friends with them online.
-
Step 6
Find out how the person's work email format is constructed. One standard email format uses the first name followed by a dot and then the last name and then @ with the company's website name. Once you know the standard format you can try a guess at the person's email.
