Need a quick costume that can be made for children or adults?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black Leotard
  • Yellow Duct Tape
  • One Square of Black Craft Foam
  • Headband
  • 2 Black Pipe cleaners
  • 2 Small Styrofoam Balls
  • Glue Gun
  • White Wings
  1. Step 1

First start with your leotard. It can be short or long sleeved, your preference. Have the person who's going to be wearing the costume put the leotard on and get your duct tape. Yellow duct tape can be found at most craft stores. Wrap one strip all the way around the chest until it meets in the back and cut off excess. Repeat all the way down the stomach.

  2. Step 2

Take your square piece of black craft foam and form it into a cone shape by rolling it up. Craft foam can be found at craft stores and at larger stores such as Wal-Mart. Glue the ends with a glue gun. You will attach it to the costume after the wearer is out of it.

  3. Step 3

For the antennae, take your headband a wrap the bottom part of 2 pipe cleaners around it so that 2 large antennae stick up straight on the headband. To the top of these antennae, attach 2 styrofoam balls that you have painted black. These should stick in fine by themselves, but if they fall out, put a bit of glue in the hole and reattach.

  4. Step 4

Lastly after the wearer is out of the leotard, attach the stinger to the bottom of the leotard using a glue gun. I have never had a problem with it staying put, but if you do, attach with 2 safety pins. Add a pair of cheap white wings that can be found at most dollar stores during the Halloween season.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful with your glue gun
  • Plan ahead for weather. If it will be chillier make sure you get a long sleeved leotard. A coat would not looks very nice with the finished product!
