Oticon digital hearing aids

Your Oticon hearing aids are sophisticated electronic devices that need regular maintenance to keep them running properly. Earwax buildup is one of the primary causes of hearing-aid malfunction. In order to keep your hearing aids working, you should clean them every night before you go to bed. All you have to do is wipe the speaker unit to remove any earwax. Every month, you should replace the dome, which is the cap that covers the tip of the speaker unit.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a note of the model of your hearing aids. You will need that information to purchase the type of dome that fits your hearing aid.

    • 2

Examine the general appearance of the dome to determine the type. The double flanged "power dome" is for power hearing-aid models. The tulip-shaped "plus dome" is for "closed ear" fittings. The "open dome" is umbrella-shaped with three openings.

    • 3

Check the size of the dome by looking at your Oticon instructions-for-use manual. Your hearing care professional may have noted the size in the document.

    • 4

Call the hearing care professional that sold the hearing aids to you to find out if the office carries domes or if they need to be ordered. Many offices often keep domes in stock.

    • 5

Bring your hearing aids with you to pick up the domes. That way, you can make sure that you are getting the correct type and size.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask your hearing care professional to review the removal and installation procedures.
