Step 1
MAKE A CUP OF ROSE TEA
In a cup of hot water, stir a teaspoon of dried, ground rose petals and leaves; or use 1/2 cup fresh fragrant rose petals from your garden roses per cup. Add honey, pieces of dried citrus rind, or a very small amount of peppermint for additional flavor. I add my rose petals to other favorite teas for extra flavor. Cover 10 minutes. Stir, strain, and sip.
A tea prepared with rose petals and leaves is effective in cleansing toxins. It also provides a cooling effect on the body and serves to reduce fevers along with associated rashes, and also increases the body's immune system.
The rose's malic and tartaric acids serve of great value in dissolving gallstones, as a mild diuretic, and an aide to the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, urinary tract, bloodstream, and restores balance in the gut and bowels. It also helps in alleviating problems related with lethargic liver like headaches and constipation. -
Step 2
EAT THE ROSE PETALS
Rose petals from your garden roses can make a nice nibble by themselves, dabbed with honey or maple syrup, or included in a fruit or vegetable salad, in a soup, or in a puree. Grind or powder dried rose petals to add into any cooked foods.
Rose petals aid in relieving congestion in the female reproductive system, reduce heavy periods, treat erratic menstrual periods, infertility and increases sexual desire. -
Step 3
MAKE ROSE WATER
Slowly simmer a full cup of dried rose petals from your garden roses in two pints of hot water in a covered pot for 45 minutes. Express the liquid in which mix another full cup of the petals and prepare as before. Preserve the aromatic water in the refrigerator. Dilute the rose water to drink as a health tea or use it to flavor baked goods.
Infusion prepared from the rose petals acts as a useful astringent and is effective for treating diarrhea, enteritis and dysentery. It is also a corrective for loose bowels when boiled down to half its contents, and may be used as a laxative to clear bowel movement -
Step 4
MAKE A SYRUP FROM THE ROSE WATER
To make rose syrup, thicken the original rose water with enough sugar or honey and use as a topping for fruits or a sweetener for tea.
Rose petals possess reconditioning affects on the nervous system, and are also capable of alleviating the problems of insomnia, relieving depression, and driving out fatigue. -
Step 5
MAKE A VINEGAR FROM ROSE PETALS
Pour a pint of cider or wine vinegar over a cup full of tightly packed rose petals from your garden roses contained in a quart glass jar. Seal and place the jar near a warm radiator or in a sunny window for two to three days. Strain and store the vinegar.
Use the vinegar alone or with other aromatic vinegars as a marinating liquid, in sauce and salad dressing, or as a quick remedy for scratches, cuts and insect bites.
