Everyone in this day and age is trying to save a dollar especially if you are a college student. I will provide you with some helpful tips to save yourself money on books and school supplies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  1. Step 1

While on my recent adventure of going to the local state college, I discovered a website that will not only save me money but it also more green for the earth. The website is called chegg.com its an online book rental website that allows you to rent the books for the time needed and then send them back free of charge. All you need is the ISBN number off the back of your books then fill out the registration part on the website and your good to go!

  2. Step 2

Another problem that most of us have is trying to find cheap materials for college like notebooks, pencils, etc. My best solution that I have found to this is the local dollar store. You can usually pick up everything you need for a buck or less. What ever you do, don't buy your materials from the college bookstore! They will charge you at least $5-6 for a $1-2 notebook!

  3. Step 3

Book bags are another issue. This is a personal preference as some of you want over the shoulder or even rolling bags. My personal solution is to pick items up when the youngsters go back to school. Walmart usually has a great sale during July and August on these items. One thing you have to consider when purchasing a book bag is " are all of my books going to fit in that?" and not just for looks! This is college, I can guarantee that no-one is going to look at what color your backpack is! lol Comfort is key especially if you have to walk great distances. Make sure the bookbag has padded straps to avoid digging into your shoulders. Trust me, you will thank me for this later :)

Tips & Warnings
  • When purchasing items, look for the best quality. A cheap book bag is not always the best one. If you want one to hang around until you graduate college, my suggestion is to pay a little more for a nicer one. It will pay off in the end.
  • Check with you college to make sure that you are getting the right books. I have discovered that sometimes there will be more than one book with the same ISBN # on it.
