Is your brain aching from too many article ideas?
Is your brain aching from too many article ideas?

You have lists all over the house with scribbles about your next article ideas. You also keep a notepad in the car so you can jot down all those inspirations. Here's how you burn out those article idea synapses in a few easy steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Come up with article ideas that someone has already written. Nothing like thinking that you're onto the best idea since the dawn of the printing press, then seeing hundreds of the same already at the top of every search engine query.

Having your article idea bubble burst before you can even produce it is a great way to lose morale.

  2. Step 2

Stop in the middle of writing a particularly drab article and have an existential moment. That's right - ask yourself why you're even bothering, who is even going to read this when it's finished and is there really anything new under the sun to say?

Stepping out of the present moment to over-analyze yourself is an article idea breaker.

  3. Step 3

Rehash your old articles. Instead of creating something new, rework and redesign your old writing. This will compliment step 2 nicely, as well. After doing this for awhile, you will be fresh out of new article ideas.

  4. Step 4

Write too much. So, you always wanted to be a prolific writer, right? The only problem is that if all available moments are spent writing, then you no longer maintain a life full of activities, friendships and family.

The underlying depression from not having a life will eventually evaporate your well of article ideas.

  5. Step 5

Don't write for the joy of writing. Write strictly to make money, to gain prestige, to impress someone or to become famous. Goodbye article ideas!
