How to Stop Ntoskrnl exe

      Insert the Windows XP disk into your CD-ROM drive.

      Press "Any" key when prompted to by Windows after you've rebooted the PC. This will cause the Windows XP disk to boot up.

      Press the "R" key to enter the Windows Recovery Console. Then select the "Windows XP OS" from the list of operating systems to repair. Enter the Administrative password when prompted.

      Type "expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32" and hit the "Enter" key. If you receive an error message saying the drive does not exist, then type in "e:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32" instead.

      Type "Y" and press the "Enter Key" to overwrite the corrupted file.

      Type "Exit" to reboot the computer. Remove the Windows XP disk after the computer restarts. Boot into normal Windows mode and you will stop receiving the Ntoskrnl.exe error message.

  • Don't mess with files in the "system32" folder unless you know what you are doing with them.
