Position yourself so that you must extend onto your toes to hit the ball but don't have to jump much.
Step2
Position your toes at a 45-degree angle toward the side wall.
Step3
Point your non-racquet hand at the ball.
Step4
Pull your swinging arm behind your head with your elbow bent 90 degrees.
Step5
Swing your non-racquet arm down (to generate power) while simultaneously swinging the racquet up so your arm is extended when you make contact with the ball.
Step6
Keep the face of the racquet angled slightly down and your eye on the ball through contact.
Step7
Follow through with your hitting arm.
Tips & Warnings
Follow the flight of the ball with your non-racquet hand as it sails toward you, like your finger's emitting a tracking beam.
Avoid hitting this shot flat-footed. Hitting from your toes with your weight shifting forward puts more power behind the shot.
Always wear goggles when you're playing racquetball.
