how to get your child interested in reading

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • open mind
  • patience
  • book store
  1. Step 1

So you want your child to read more but your child figures that their school books are more than enough to read. Therefore it seems as homework to them if there is any EXTRA reading to do. However, if you have a child who likes to read books than that is just wonderful.

  2. Step 2

Whenever I take a trip to the book store I take my son along with me. I usually go to Barnes and Noble Bookstore. My son goes one way and I go the other way. He will come to me with magazines or a particular book and ask me if I can buy it for him.

  3. Step 3

If the book is appropriate than I will buy it for him. Of course if the price is outrageous then he needs to look for another book. He anxiously reads the book on our way home from the book store. I must say that this is such a wonderful feeling to me.

  4. Step 4

So basically let them choose the book as long as it is age appropriate. Even if you may not like the book let them choose. Why not buy books? We buy video consoles such a XBOX and PLAYSTATION along with the video games that cost fifty dollars or more.

  5. Step 5

The fact is that my son will pick up a book on his own now and read it. So the next time you go to the bookstore take your child along and let them choose. It's worth it at the end. Reading is fundamental!!

  6. Step 6

P.S Now I know his favorite authors ---- such a wonderful thing
