If your snake is having difficulty shedding his skin, or is retaining part of his skin, this article will give you ways to help him out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • snake, sink, spray bottle, plastic wrap
  1. Step 1

If your snake looks as if he is getting ready do shed( his skin will become dull and cloudy) first you should increase the humidity in his enclosure. This can be done by placing a larger water dish in the cage, and by misting the sides and floor with a spray bottle a few times a day. You can also cover up part of the lid with plastic wrap so long as there is no heat source near it.

  2. Step 2

After the humidity has been raised you need to make sure the snake has rocks or branches to rub against to loosen the skin.

  3. Step 3

If your snake has pieces of skin left after shedding you can soak her to help loosen the remaining skin. Simply place her in a sink or bucket full of lukewarm water for 20-30 minutes a few times a day until the skin easily peels off.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not attempt to pull skin off if it doesn't easily pull away, this can cause damage to the new skin underneath.
