Take my advice...it's soooo good!

This is a basic how-to when entering a Sportsbook to bet on baseball games. I specifically choose baseball because I will also advise on how to WIN at betting baseball.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good sports website
  1. Step 1

There are a couple of ways to bet on baseball that are the easiest. I suggest either picking a game "straight up" or by playing a "parlay." "Straight up" is picking one game on one ticket. A "parlay" is picking two or more games on a ticket. I will focus on these two modes of betting during this article. I will not speak of prop bets (rip-offs) or of bets that have a spread on it.

  2. Step 2

Go to any sports website (your choice, I use Yahoo!) and check out the games for the day. You need to take the following into consideration: 1. Who's pitching (click on the pitcher' s name to check out his season stats). 2. Who's playing at home (it helps in close games) 3. Trends (how have the teams been doing lately)

  3. Step 3

    Choosing your teams:

I really focus on the pitchers for the day when selecting my teams. He is the most common reason a team wins or loses. Compare the two pitchers and see how they've been doing over their last five starts and see who is better. I would add that with run support expected to supplement what the pitcher is doing. If pitcher A has a 3.50 era over his last five starts is going against pitcher B with a 4.00 era over his last five, who do you pick? Pitcher A? NOT NECESSARILY! Look at who is home/away and who would likely have the better run support.

  4. Step 4

    What games do I choose?

The most lob-sided ones you can and parlay them! I would pick three games/teams I like and bet $20 on a parlay ticket (keep it fun). At the Sports book, look for your teams' numbers on the board and tell the sports book attendant that you would like to parlay for baseball. If the Tigers are number 650 on the board, tell the attendant that number. So instead of saying "I want the Tigers, Mariners, and Cubs," you would give them the numbers of the teams. So...I'll take 650, 653, and 655 for $20. Thank you.

  5. Step 5

When playing a parlay, you must win each game, but the pay-off is better. You may win upwards to $400 on a $20 bet depending on what the betting lines are. You need to be a bigger better to win more just picking one game.
