Cheese graters are probably one of the hardest things to clean, you try to wipe it off and you end up grating up your cleaning tool! We use cheese graters for a lot of things these days, for carrots, celery, potato, apple, onions, garlic, and of course cheese. Still so many of us hassle with cleaning this odd but useful tool, we end up cutting our tools, not being able to get it clean or even cutting ourselves. To learn this simple and easy way to clean a cheese grater read through this article.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A cheese grater
  • A Sponge or scrubby
  • A sink with running water
  1. Step 1

Think about it, how do you grate cheese? You pull the cheese down he grater and against the sharp edges. In doing this the outside of the grater gets dirty and the inside of the cheese grater getts dirty. Now you don't want to grate your sponge so when cleaning the outside of the grater you want to scrub it off pushing the sponge up. Over the sharp adges the opposite way then when you are grating.

  2. Step 2

To clean the inside of the grater is pretty easy, depending on what kind of cheese grater you have it either has an inside or just the other side of the grater, the back side from where you grate the cheese. Usually this is pretty easy to clean... there should be any sharp edges but you still want to be careful. Also make sure your sponge or scrubby doesn't get caught in the sharp edges through the grater.

  3. Step 3

Once both sides of the cheese grater are cleaned you want to rinse it off again, make sure it's completely rinsed and if you didn't scrub with soap you will want to repeat the process this time with soap and hot water to make sure your grater is completely clean.

Tips & Warnings
