Step 1
The first thing you do to clean cuts and scrapes is wash the area with warm, soapy water. This will clean away and debris and germs.

Next, keep the cut moist. Keeping the area moist is vital to promoting rapid growth of new skin cells.

Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment to the area. This will keep you from getting an infection. If the wound is in a bad spot, and the ointment will get rubbed off cover with a bandage.

Do NOT apply peroxide or alcohol. These will dry the wound and delay the healing process.

Do NOT pick at the scab. This increases irritation, which will delay the healing process, and it can also let bacteria into the wound.

Call your doctor if you see and discharge or redness at or around the wound. Also id the cut is deep or jagged, this could mean you need stiches.
