If you want to learn to type this is a simple enough process. Keep in mind however that to learn to type takes practice. This is a skill everyone needs to develop in the high tech society we live in today. You can learn to type at your own pace and best of all doing so is free!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look on the internet for free tutors and programs. There are tons to choose from when you want to learn to type. All you need is one with the basics with all the freebies available there is no need to pay.

  2. Step 2

If you don’t happen to have an internet connection go to your local library and check out a learn to type book. Once again all you need are the basics the rest will be up to you.

  3. Step 3

Go over the material carefully. Try to use the correct fingering. It will be all too easy to talk yourself into using one finger instead of the correct one. If you start by learning incorrectly the habit will follow you right on. Make sure your hand and finger placement is correct in the beginning. The placements are there for a reason and you will not be able to type as fast if you teach yourself a bad habit. Use proper placement when you learn to type!

  4. Step 4

Start out one lesson at a time. Don’t try to skip steps or dive in head first. When you learn to type you are basically memorizing the keys this takes time. Take one lesson at a time.

  5. Step 5

Practice, practice and more practice is what you need. To learn to type takes practice so make sure to take time out every day to do so. Eventually you will be glad you did!

  6. Step 6

Draw a keyboard on a piece of paper if you don’t have a laptop. Keep the paper in your pocket so you can practice in your free time. This will speed the memorization process up dramatically.
