How to Convert From BNC to VGA
Most closed-circuit TV security systems use BNC connectors. Monitors that accept BNC input, however, are quite a bit more expensive than standard VGA monitors. You can save money by converting a BNC signal so you can use your BNC cameras with any basic VGA monitor. Converting your CCTV camera system to VGA not only will save you money, but it also opens up the possibility of adding a new monitor (or several monitors) later. VGA gives you flexibility that you don't really enjoy with BNC.
Instructions

1
Wire your CCTV camera system in the usual manner. Connect a BNC cable to your security camera.
-
2
Connect the end of the primary BNC cable (which you would ordinarily connect to the BNC monitor or DVR) to the BNC-to-VGA converter.
-
-
3
Connect a standard VGA cable from the converter to a VGA monitor. If your monitor doesn't have a VGA port (for example, if it's DVI), you can use a VGA-to-DVI adapter to make this connection.
-
4
Turn on your CCTV system. The VGA monitor displays the image coming from the CCTV camera.

Tips & Warnings
For an even more innovative solution, connect your CCTV system to the VGA port on a TV, or use a VGA-to-DVI converter if you have a DVI port on your TV. You can then check your security camera by merely switching inputs on the TV or using your TV's picture-in-picture option.
