How to Cook a Pot Roast in the Crockpot

This easy pot roast recipe will work for either a beef or pork roast. It does not matter how large the roast is as long as it comfortably fits in the crockpot with the other ingredients. The pot roast needs to be seasoned, but the choice of seasonings is up to the cook. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 6 potatoes, cut in half
  • 1 lb. bag baby carrots
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Instructions

      Put the potatoes in the bottom of the pot.

      Rinse the roast and put it in the pot on top of the potatoes.

      Add the cream of mushroom soup straight from the can and spread it over the meat.

      Cover the top of the roast with the garlic, any seasoning and the onion slices. Put the carrots on top.

      Fill 1/2 of the empty soup can with water. Pour that water into the pot, and cover the pot.

      Turn the crockpot on low. Cook the roast for 8 to 10 hours. It is ready when the potatoes are tender, and the meat is cooked through.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try substituting Cream of Chicken or Cream of Celery soup with pork roast.

  • Try substituting Cream of Onion soup with beef roast.

  • When cooking pork, be sure it is cooked all the way through and no longer pink in the middle.
