Cajun Jambalaya Recipe with Rice and Sausage

Making Cajun main dish recipes fast has been a goal of ours for several years, since it seems we always have time to eat, and never have time to cook.

This is sausage and rice jambalaya fast recipe, and about as speedy as any Cajun dish I have ever made. We created this recipe several years ago, and still make it often.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • A couple of pounds of tube style sausage. We use Hillshire Farms or a local brand.
    • 1/2 cup of rice
    • 3 1/4 cups water
    • package of Rice Sides from Knorr--your choice
    • Cajun seasoning as desired
      • 1

Cut sausage in 3/4 to 1 inch thick pieces. Place in a deep pan like a Dutch oven sprayed with Pam and put it on a burner on the stove. We usually start this with high heat and reduce it when we add water later.

      • 2

Brown sausage on both sides, and pour off any excess fat. This should take less than 10 minutes, and needs to be watched constantly.

      • 3

Add about 3 1/4 cups of water and the package of RICE SIDES from Knorr. We like mushroom or Spanish rice with sausage. Add 1/2 cup of uncooked rice and any additional spices you like. We usually add a little Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. Stir.

      • 4

Turn the burner down and let this cook, stirring occasionally, until the rice is done and all the water is absorbed. This should take about 30 minutes. C'est si bon!
