Make a Healthy and Delicious Smoothie

how to make a healthy good tasting smoothie

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup orange or apple juice
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
  • or 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • (optional) honey
  1. Step 1

I as a mother have a hard time feeding my teenager fruit. He would rather skip the fruit if at all possible. However when he hears the sound from my blender it is amazing. Amazing too me because he actually asks me if there will be enough smoothie for him. This makes me so happy, it really does. Therefore I let him hear the sound of my blender at least three times a week. That my friends is when h will eat fruit.

  2. Step 2

I have a little secret to share with you. I like bananas and these are best for the smoothies. When shopping for bananas I look for ripe bananas( the ones with the black spots) because these are so naturally sweet. I know your probably thinking that i wind up throwing half or most of it away, but ladies and gentlemen I preserve them for about two months in the freezer. Upon purchasing ripe bananas I peel them.

  3. Step 3

I will take about three to four depending on their size and wrap them in vacuumed plastic bags(sold in your grocers) or simply put them in individual bags of four in plastic freezer bags( the ones that zip).

  4. Step 4

Well then lets get started on this special smoothie:
Put two ripened bananas in blender
Add the vanilla yogurt or vanilla soy milk
    (one cup of your preference)
half a cup of either apple juice pineapple juice or orange juice (personally I love the orange juice best)

  5. Step 5

If you like honey just add a half of teaspoon into the blender as well (this will be a natural sweetener and give the smoothie a nicer texture. If you do not like honey really it will not make a huge difference.

  6. Step 6

Blend until all is blended well thoroughly and pour into a tall glass. Drink be merry and healthy too. Now another reason besides preserving the ripened bananas is to make the smoothie cold. Think: if you use ice in your smoothie it waters down the smoothie and becomes watery. When freezing your bananas you not watering anything at all because it is all bananas. Therefore you do not need to add any ice because the bananas are the fruit and the ice all in one! hope you enjoy my recipe for health and harmony
