Many spend hundreds of dollars to buy a Home Security Alarm and do not set the alarm while they are in the house. Be safe at home with a Home Alarm' primary function is to protect the residents' while they are inside during the day and night. The alarm will alert the police that intruders are trying to get into your home. Less important is setting the security alarm ''only'' when you are away or on vacation. Items that might be stolen can be replaced, but your life, and the lives of your family cannot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Security Alarm System
  1. Step 1

Choose the type of home alarm system that best fits your needs. There are as many different types of alarm systems as there are many names. Check out a few and find the alarm system that best fits your needs and your pocketbook and be safe at home.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you understand how to use the many features that comes with alarm systems. One of the most important features to keep you safe is the Security Alarm Pad. This pad is usually placed near an entry/exit door so you can easily activate it or shut it off when you leave and return home.

  3. Step 3

Keep the alarm activated whenever you are in the home, day or night. Many who own burglar alarm systems feel that it has to only be activated when they leave their household for a short time during the day, or when they go on vacation for an extended period of time. It is more important for the residents in their home to be safe from intruders while they are in their own home morning, noon and night.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you set the alarm when you go on vacation, and at the same time notify the police that you will be away. This way they will keep an eye on your home as they patrol the neighborhood and check to make sure the home is safe and secure and for any thing out of the ordinary that looks suspicious.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that no matter what alarm system you buy,it has a setting that alerts you when a door is opened and what door is opened while the alarm is not set when you have company--especially if you have a small child in the home.
  • Keep the security alarm activated at all times-day and night-whenever the family is in the home. Break-ins happen during the day as well. This is actually more important than setting the alarm before going on vacation or leaving the house. Material things can be replaced, but family members cannot be.
