Ever wondering how people show up at the top of search engines for certain keywords?
Is your website at the very bottom of the search, or worse, nowhere to be found on Google?
Read this article for a remedy to this problem.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Some internet knowledge
  • A website to market
  1. Step 1

Familiarze yourself with the "SEO talk". The basic foundation on which search engine optimization stands is keywords. Keywords are the most important
part of search engine optimization: they are simply words that your visitors will find your site with.
If you use Google, or other search engines, keywords are the things that you type into the search when you are looking
for a certain topic. It is generally agreed by web professionals that people finding you on search engines is the best
way to generate traffic to your website.

  2. Step 2

Make use of popular tools to help you choose your keywords. Probably the most used tool for keyword selection (and for good reason)
is the one published by Google for their Adsense campaign. You can find it by searching for "google keyword tool" in Google.
What you will do is input keywords that you already have, and Google will shoot out a long list of keywords that could also be used
for this niche, as well as a run down of 1. how popular the suggested keywords are and 2. how many people are already using these keywords.
If you can find keywords that fit these two qualities: 1. a popular search term for your niche and 2. not used much by your competitors, you win.

  3. Step 3

Order your keywords in your meta tags by their importance. The first keyword in your list should be your primary keyword, the second one should
be your secondary keyword, etc. This is often an overlooked, but very important step to keyword selection for search engine optimization.

  4. Step 4

Research your competitors. You can figure out the keywords that your competitors are using by visiting their website and right clicking somewhere
blank. Click "View Source" and check out their meta keywords tag. It will give you a list of the keywords that they are using, and if they are higher
than you on the search engine list, you should use a few of their keywords as well.

  5. Step 5

Be patient. The process of SEO and keyword optimization is very long, and people that don't understand the time it takes are the ones who do not succeed.
You can't simply stop optimizing - you need to constantly re-update your keywords based on current trends of your competitors. Everyone is constantly
trying to pass everyone else on the search engine rankings: this is why keywords get changed, and also why you need to stay on top of the game.

on 9/10/2009 True. I agree with your suggestion of carrying out the basic practices while blogging. But sometimes, these suggestions are limited to blogging and not for the whole internet marketing. I read your post, and open a blog where I used to present some articles regarding the advancements in the medicine, new research going on the field, and other relevant topics. It works fine to gain a continuous attention from the patients. But the same didn’t work much for the website that I created for my clinic. I was eventually required to hire an SEO company.Hiring someone to optimize your website would be a really good idea if you have a new website and/or business venture. Using the services of an experienced Offshore SEO company will give you exactly the results you need. SEO companies are trained to generate a steady continuous flow of quality traffic in order to achieve more revenue for your ...
