When you're stuck with the ball out near the sideline, how do you get it back closer to the goal? The answer is a cross (a pass from the sideline to center field) to one of your teammates.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soccer Balls
  • Soccer balls
  1. Step 1

Control the ball as you move down the wing (outside) of the field, eluding defenders along the way.

  2. Step 2

Glance to the middle of the field to see where your teammates are making runs.

  3. Step 3

Chip the ball to the area to which your teammates are moving (see 'eHow to Chip a Soccer Ball').

  4. Step 4

Pass the ball back to a teammate if you are approaching the goal line. Try to keep the ball low to the ground so your teammate can shoot more easily.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're close to the goalkeeper, cross the ball back far enough that he or she cannot grab it, but keep it close enough to the goal so that a teammate is able to score from that position.
  • If you have any condition that would impair or limit your ability to engage in physical activity, please consult a physician before attempting this activity. This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.

on 4/24/2007 when you cross a soccer ball during a soccer ball, or when ever during a game, try not to kick the ball to high if it is in a heavily populated area, nothing above the waist. If you want to lift the ball, lift it to about knee hight, where it is most awkward to control for them.

on 7/24/2006 Dribble up the field at a moderate speed. Tap the ball about a yard from you, then lean back and hit the middle of the ball. You lean back so the kick will go over the defenders head.

on 3/24/2006 When you cross the soccer ball in a game, it works best if you curl the ball so that it goes toward the goalie, and when he comes to get it and it bends away from him, he leaves the goal wide open for your team to score.

on 3/8/2006 When the ball has momentum, you'll get a better cross as it will have more power. For a straight cross, use the lace area part of your foot, and to curl it, use the instep, but swing at the ball and slice the bottom half.
