How to Download Music with Windows XP
Windows XP is one of the top computer operating systems in the world, and is used widely across the United States on both laptops and desktop computers. Downloading music on Windows XP can be easy through a free file-sharing program such as Limewire. This program works with Windows XP to download file types that are compatible with Windows Media Player and can be easily saved into a music library on your computer.

Navigate to the Limewire.com homepage and click "Get Basic" on the homepage to download the free version of the most widely used peer-to-peer file-sharing program on the Internet.

Click "Run" to start the program and follow the prompts by clicking "Next" to install the program. Once it has finished installing, click "Finish."

Double-click the Limewire icon to launch it on your desktop.

Click "Audio" on the left-side bar menu and type in a Title, Artist or Album for the song(s) that you are looking for. This populates a list of matching results.

Double-click on a song you want to download. This begins the download.

Click the "Library" tab on the top of the program once your downloaded songs have reached 100%.

Click "Saved Files" and click "Explore" and to open the folder of your downloaded songs. From there, you can play them or save them to different folders.
