Dreamweaver is a powerful but fairly simple software used to design and manage websites. Dreamweaver is very popular because it is so powerful but easy to use once you understand some of the basic rules and instructions. Dreamweaver isn't cheap but middle of the road in terms of software prices for productivity software. Most people who use Dreamweaver are either professionals or people who are serious about their websites.

Play with it. Open up Dreamweaver and start making a page. Just try every different option and see what it does. If you don't want to invest in a new copy of Dreamweaver without understanding it, purchase an older version off eBay and play with it. The older version will still have the basics that the new version has. If you come to a command that you don't understand, you can search on the Dreamweaver website or other tech websites for an explanation.

Save an online page that you like to your desktop. Open the website in Dreamweaver and try making changes. You can also right-click the screen to "View Page Source" to see the code that makes the page work. This will help you understand some of how HTML and Dreamweaver work.

Use a book. There are dozens of Dreamweaver books that explain how to use the software. If you are very new to Dreamweaver, consider a "Dummies" book that explains the software in baby steps.

Find online tutorials. You can find free and fee-based tutorials for all kinds of software. Lynda.com is one website that offers online training on a monthly fee basis. The tutorial consists of videos showing you step by step what to do.

Take a class. Most local community colleges offer course work in common software. A class will give you the ability to ask questions from an instructor who is very familiar with the software.
