How to PROPERLY fix a ball mark on the green.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A divot tool of any kind.
  1. Step 1

Once you've found the ball mark that you want to repair, make sure you repair one other, just to maintain the health of the grass.

  2. Step 2

Approach the divot or ball mark. Bend over, and insert your divot tool, one prong into the craterish bit, and one around the outside edge. With a gentle twisting motion, work your way around the divot until you've twisted all the edges of the divot together. this will take about five twist and lift motions, re-inserting the tool after each move.

  3. Step 3

after the edges of the mark have been pulled together, pat down the area with your putter until the surface is flat once more. Don't settle with the spot until you would feel confident to putt over it yourself. Someone else may have to today. Once you have finished your own, don't be afraid to fix any others you may see, but at the same time, Don't hold up any groups behind you please :)

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't take too long, it should only take about 10 seconds.
  • Do not ever stick your tool in, and then try to lift the center of the mark upwards lever style. This will kill the grass roots.
