Star Wars Scout Troopers, characters in the movie series, are Imperial storm troopers trained for scouting, combat survival and sniping. They wear modified lightweight armor that is more flexible than the standard Storm Trooper armor. For a Scout Trooper costume, you need a helmet and body armor. The helmet can be bought from many online stores. The body armor is more difficult to find and must be purchased as a custom kit.

Purchase the Star Wars Scout Trooper helmet. Search for Halloween or costume shops in your local area. You can also search online for costume shops. On the costume supply shop site, search for "Star Wars Scout Trooper helmet." The helmet is a collectible and comes in an adult one-size fits all.

Purchase the Star Wars Scout Trooper Body Armor Kit. Many stores that carry the helmet will not have the body armor. You can purchase custom body armor kits from sites such as studiocreations.com (See References.) This armor kit is accepted by the "501st Legion" Costuming Club, fits body sizes 5 feet, 6 inches to 6 feet, 3 inches, and comes with assembly instructions. Armor kits are sometimes for sale on auction sites such as eBay.com.

Build an armor kit. If you can't afford a custom armor kit (they can cost $500 and up), building a kit may be an option. Download an image or purchase an action figure of a Scout Trooper to determine how many pieces you need. Get white plastic buckets, bottles, caps and other white plastics from your local hardware store and white shiny vinyl from a fabric store. Use a black sharpie to draw pieces on the plastic and cut with a razor knife. Use rubbing alcohol to remove marker from plastic. Assemble pieces with epoxy, which bonds better and is more flexible than superglue.

Tips & Warnings
To complete your costume, you will need a black long-sleeved shirt and sweatpants to be worn underneath your armor and a set of black gloves.
